Problem

Strain-gauge bar

Circuit: two strain-gauge bridges on the bar, Topaz-2 amplifier, N327-5 recorder, stabiliser and lift-off switch

Application

Five chart-recorder traces of force and bar height during a snatch
Fig. 4. Sample record: M1 — bar lift-off; M2 — time mark; H — bar height; Vsh, Gsh — vertical and horizontal force on the bar; Vp, Gp — vertical and horizontal force on the platform.

Formula: resultant force equals the square root of the sum of squared vertical and horizontal forces
Resultant force: Fp = √(Fv² + Fh²), where Fp is the resultant, Fv the vertical and Fh the horizontal force, all in kg.
